>African Savanna
  • Average temperature for a savanna is between 68° F to 86°F
    [20° to 30° C]
  • The annual precipitation is about 10 to 30 inches.
  • A savanna has a few shrubs and even fewer trees. It also has rolling grasslands. The savanna is found between a tropical rainforest and a desert biome.
When traveling to the savanna one might want to pack:
  1. Cothing for the weather (for example, one might prefer shorts to jeans in the heat.)
  2. An umbrella or raincoat is suggested if going during the wet season.
  3. A camera would be useful to get pictures of all the wonderful scenery.
  4. A method to get food, water, and some type of shelter [like stay in a hotel, or stay in a home of someone else]

The African Savanna is found in large, open parts of Africa. Savannas are warm, life-filled grasslands with many species of animals, including the African Elephant, Aardwolf, Chacma Baboon, and Grant's Zebra. Check out the Umbrella Thorn Acacia Tree or the Jackal Berry Tree, both native plants of the African Savanna. Or, if you'd like to see an animal from a different part of the world that's now living in the African Savanna, check out Invasive Species.
